CLIENT
Our client is a pioneer in US schools education since 2000, it is leading the way in next-generation curriculum and formative assessment, they develop a number of solutions and interactive products for teachers and students. Their products target educational needs of all classes – from elementary to high school. They operate in 50 states, products are used in 21,000+ schools by 10,000,000 of students. The company is technology-driven with huge number of software engineers involved in product development. They have a very solid approach to technology, employ best practices and processes, with the focus on cutting-edge frameworks, languages and tools. The client’s culture is very similar to ours. There is no hierarchy, just a friendly and open-minded team where each voice is valuable.
 
POSITION OVERVIEW
Position is opened in the enrolment team. It owns the ingestion of enrolment data from 3rd party enrolment services or directly from the school districts. It is also responsible for making enrolment data available via internal APIs to all clients products. This team supports two enrolment stacks. The older but more mature one is written in Python and Oracle DB and the newer one that we will be completely migrating to in the future is in Python 3.8 and Postgres DB. The 2022 roadmap for this team is to continue working on the newer enrolment stack to build new features on it as well as work towards unifying the two enrolment systems with an eye to retire the old system.
 
TECHNOLOGY STACK
The tech stack of the project is diverse, you might work with the following technologies: Python 3.8 + Pyramid, Oracle & MongoDB, microservices architecture.
 
Requirements
  • Back-end and API development skills in Python
  • Experience working with Linux based platform
  • Experience working in microservices architecture
  • Solid experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience in the Agile methodology (SCRUM)
  • Good spoken English (the person will work in a highly integrated Agile team with client’s members)
Nice to have
  • Experience working with AWS technologies (RDS, Lambdas, DynamoDB)
  • Experience working with Terraform
