Typical Years of Experience

2-3 years in Quality Assurance or a related Engineering field.

Technical Expectations

Functional QA minimum expectations plus the following:

• Ability to design and create test strategies, test plans and test cases for the features under test.
• Ability to report results, assess priority and impact, communicate to management and appropriate stakeholders.
• Understands cross-browser and cross-device testing; can create and maintain Browser and Device test matrices, Browser and Device versions supported.
• Some understanding of performance, load, stability, and reliability testing
• Ability to manipulate and update test data for multiple changing scenarios.
• Use of application lifecycle management tools to document test cases and results for bug lifecycle.
• Basic knowledge of existing automation frameworks for system under test.
• Working knowledge of databases eg. SQL, MongoDB, Oracle.
• Ability to use system log info to enhance bug reports.
• Ability to match corresponding logged errors to bugs or create issues from them.
• Advanced knowledge of HTTP protocols – GET, POST PUT, authorization headers and tokens and cookie values.
• Ability to use API testing and documentation tools e.g. Swagger, Postman, Insomnia.
• Hands on experience with environment setup and deployment tools.
• Working knowledge of code branching and flow strategies and how CI/CD pipeline moves code between environments – where’s the bug, where’s the fix, which environments has it reached.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms – e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Ability to recognize inefficiencies or flaws in a process, with an eye toward suggesting improvements. Oversees the quality of the team’s development process not just the product.

Stretch, Desired

• Ability to use an APM tool to dig into transaction traces to help pinpoint the issue.
• Experience with performance testing tools to simulate load.
